Practice solfeggio, music theory and piano with the song ‘Little frog’ by Piano Comics

Piano teachers: practice solfeggio, music theory and piano with this simple, cute song called ‘Little frog’ by Piano Comics.

This song is from a Bulgarian composer-pedagogue named Iordan Kolev and can be used even with preschoolers.

The lyrics were created by my students and myself and the original adaptation from Bulgarian is given on the 2nd page. In this post you can download  the 2 free pages and on our youtube channel  @pianocomics  you can watch the 3 ways I have already taught this song.

In short, this song has served in 3 different ways:

  1. As a solfeggio exercise after we’ve learned the lyrics
  2. For preschoolers: pressing just 4 consecutive keys 3 times (rhyming with the lyrics)
  3. For piano beginners to play  the first 2 bars using the c-major arpeggio and the 5th and 6th bars playing semitones

Have fun practising!

Learning and creating music can never be boring.
