Box of Music Treats

The Box of Music Treats     contains 5 pieces/’treats’ for each tonality/scale:

Polyphonic piece, Study, Canon, ‘Jazzy Blues- Bluesy Jazz’ and a Menuet.

Each batch with a different tonality costs 5,49 euro.

Here are 2 free samples and here  you can buy any batch you’d like.

The pieces are short and very simple thus, opening  a variety of choices on how to use them in piano lessons.

Each ‘treat’ at the end has a question or request in order to activate the students’ focus and thinking process.

Every batch of 5 ‘treats’ is for 5 different levels:

Level 1, Easy-peasy: 6-9 months learning piano, one hand position and no finger turns.

Level 2, Decisive Beginners: 6-12 months learning piano.

Level 3, Late Beginners: 1-2 years learning piano.

Level 4, Early Elementary: 2-4 years learning piano.

Level 5, Bold Little Pianists.

Level 1 is already in our e-shop! Level 2 & 3 will be released in July 2023.

* Please take note that the levels are relative and each teacher should choose the pieces considering students’ individual needs, abilities and challenges they face in piano lessons.

Tip 1: We recommend that you buy boxes of tonalities the student has been taught and learned as piano scales.

Tip 2: The 1st level has one hand position and no finger turns which means that the fingering is consecutive -12345- no matter from which key the piece starts. Therefore, you will see 1st and 5th fingers on black keys which means the hand should be placed higher on the piano keys:

How to use the Box of Music Treats:

  1. After learning a scale, choose the corresponding batch and any of the 5 pieces, or all, to practice either during the lesson or at home.
  2. Practice Prima Vista with more advanced students taking 1 or more of the 5 ‘treats’ during the lesson.
  3. Improve memory skills by asking a student to memorize one of the ‘treats’ and perform it directly.
  4. Exercise transposition with more advanced students.
  5. Brush up music theory skills with the questions/requests at the bottom of each score.
  6. Did the student come unprepared at the lesson? This happens to me more often than I’d like to admit. So, I choose one of the pieces and ask them to learn and play it in that piano class.
